Setting goals is a proven way to get you to success. It has been proved for years and years and whenever the goals were set correctly there is inevitability success. Many people set goals but not everyone sees them goals come true.

They start with the best of intentions but lack dedication and that hard working spirit required to reach their goals, the incorrect method of setting goals has also proved to be a significant reason for the failure of many goals attained.

When you set goals it is clear that you are doing so to achieve a desired outcome. It is then of utmost importance to ensure that your goals are clearly set for the achievement desired.

The moment you become clear on where you want to go, the next step is to figure out how you are going to get there. The more you make your goals clear and defined is the higher your chance is to see them happen.

What kind of goals do I need?

The goals you need for your personal development have to be SMART and here we mean that you need them to be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and they must have a defined Time frame.

Specific

Are you one of those who say I need to reduce my body weight this year, I want marriage in the next year, I will make a lot of money this month…not enough guys you really need to be specific with what your planning. Losing weight isn’t bad, but in which scale?? Getting marriage is always outstanding but who is your spouse? Define him/her in all aspects you need from him/her. Making lots of money in a specified amount of time isn’t bad either! But why not defining the scale on the amount of money??

Any time you set goals make sure they are something clearly targeted, clearly defined. They mustn’t just be wide range of desires in belief of achieving more either, never be under this illusion. Always be specific with what you need to achieve.

 

Measurable

When the goals are specified, they are also in an ideal position to be measured. You may have your yearly goals but break them into monthly, weekly and daily basis so that you can measure the progress. Through this you will have a good understanding on the targets needed to hit down the road and apply strategy to ensure you reach them.

Achievable & Realistic

When your goals are specified and you keep on measuring them time after time to gain the picture of progression, you also need to make sure that the goals are achievable. Something that you can attainable when working hard with a commitment;  Setting the goals that you need to be the iron man while you never did a basic 30 minutes jog…nor swim then an iron man might be a long way to go for you.

Timely

To achieve your goals you need to give yourself a reasonable time. This can be in a daily basis, weekly, monthly or a month. When you know that you are working in a certain defined time frame you will be dictating all the actions needed to accomplish the plan.

Also ensure that your goals are written and keep reviewing them regularly. Never allow yourself to forget the goals you are on to. Again make your goals simple. Complex goals will confuse you and the complex the goals the more complex the action plan will be making your desired outcome less likely.
